Broadwell |
|
During the middle ages the estate of Broadwell belonged to the Benedictine Monks. It is recorded in the Doomsday Book that Broadwell had 48 inhabitants, one of whom was a priest. The Church of St. Paul has part of it's structure dating back to 1086 and has been restored and added to over the years. The village itself is very picturesque and has a large open green donated by the late Lord Ashton. Running alongside the green is a stream that fords the road, as can be seen below. |
