Castle Combe can be found just a few miles northeast
of Chippenham on the B4039. This village is considered to be
one of the prettiest in England and is right on the edge of
the English Cotswolds. You could almost imagine that time
has stood still in Castle Combe, no TV aerials or street
lights and full of traditional honey coloured Cotswold Stone
buildings. The wool trade played a strong part in the growth
of the village in the past and the history goes right back
to the 12th century when the Dunstanville family established
a baronial seat and the descendants of the family can be
traced to the present day. The village takes it name from
the Castle of which only the earthworks remain.
