Gloucester

Gloucester is a fabulous City with a great deal of history and a proud heritage. In AD97, Roman Emperor Nerva, granted 'Nerviana Glevesium', a small settlement on the banks of the River Severn, the status of Colonia. Thereafter, the City was called 'Glevum'. Through the ages, the Romans, Celts, Saxons and Normans have all left their mark on Gloucester, as you can discover by exploring the magnificent buildings. Gloucester has a lot to offer visitors with many great restaurants, bars, pubs and an excellent City Centre which is a shoppers paradise. When visiting Gloucester, a visit to the Cathedral, once a monastery, and the Historic Docks is an absolute must.
