Shipton, Ascott and Milton-under-Wychwood |
|
Three wonderful villages on the Burford to Chipping Norton road (A361). On the village green in Shipton there is a fountain erected in memory of 17 villagers who were lost at sea when their ship, the Cospatrick sank on the way to New Zealand. There is also a plate on the fountain, a memento of the Coronation of Edward VII. Ascott has a lovely Norman church with an unusual tower and Milton has a number of interesting old stone buildings. A visit or stopover is highly recommended. |
